Lab Narrative: I met Dr. Nelson in Animal Diversity (BIO 220) in 2021, where the class was blended. I developed a deep love for the study of invertebrates, which was something I had not previously considered. I joined his lab after my mission in 2023, where I went right to work with sorting aquatic invertebrate samples to aid the infamous Megafire paper. I have learned a lot about aquatic insect identification, Charles Darwin’s marital qualifications, and the joys of giving fruit to cockroaches. I am looking forward to continuing to work with Dr. Nelson!
