Welcome to the Human Origins Video Repository (HOVR)

Our purpose is to help the general religious audience understand the science behind the study of human origins (or “paleoanthropology”). What do we know about the evolution of humankind? How do we know what we know? And, importantly, how does this reconcile with religious faith and the conviction that we are children of God and descendants of our first parents, Adam & Eve? In the sections below, you will find short videos that explain the science and address the faith. They feature some of the most famous paleoanthropologists in the world: Dr. Lee Berger of the University of the Witwatersrand, Dr. John Hawks of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dr. Richard Potts of the Smithsonian, and those who work closely with them.
