In conjunction with UBEST, we have done extensive Malaise Trap sampling of Diptera in and around Grand Staircase National Monument. On of our major focal habitats is along Calf Creek, pictured below. Dave Betts and Sara Morrison, graduate students in Biology Education, are answering questions about species diversity and trap preference according to insect size using the Malaise samples collected here.
