Biology

Mission Statement

A degree in Biology is for students who are seeking a broad biology education. The major covers everything from biodiversity to cell biology, emphasizing whole organism biology in both ecological and evolutionary contexts. This major provides students with current, practical knowledge of biodiversity and  processes. This knowledge will help students make informed decisions in their personal lives, career choices, and the communities in which they live. This degree equips students to address critical issues and contemporary problems associated with the long-term preservation of earth's biodiversity. It also provides a solid preparation for graduate schools in most fields of biology as well as a full range of professional schools, including medical and dental school. Graduates will also be qualified to work as a biologist for state, federal, or non-government agencies.
