Mission Statement
Bioinformatics provides training in both the biological sciences and the physical and mathematical sciences. It links computer programming with genetics and microbiology. Students will have opportunities for research and to collaborate with other students and established scientists. After completing the Bioinformatics program, graduates will have the skills needed for computer programming, databasing, and operating systems. These skills will qualify graduates for employment with biotechnology companies. Also, a degree in Bioinformatics gives a solid foundation for graduate school or professional school.
