Importing Data
After searching for a set of DNA or RNA sequences at
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/ (See Figure 1), select "GBSeq XML" from the "Display" menu and "File" from the "Send to" menu (See Figure 2). Then press the "Send to" button and save your file in the desired directory. The file extension is irrelevant to CDSParser.
The input files must be in GBSeq XML format, or CDSParser will not be able to read them. For more information on downloading files in GBSeq XML format, read the
above section.
Importing a new file will replace any currently imported data. Download the file as specified
above, select "(1) Import GBSeqXML data from a file" from the Input Menu. Input the directory (full or relative) and filename of the downloaded file (e.g. d:/data/cytb.cgi or /data/cytb.txt).
Importing a new file will replace any currently imported data. To import from the clipboard, you must select the text you wish to input into CDSParser and then copy it onto your computer's clipboard by selecting "copy" from the "edit" menu of the program. (This can also be accomplished by pressing ctrl-c or command-c on a Mac.) Then select "(2) Import GBSeqXML data from the clipboard" from the Input Menu. CDSParser will use the data you have put on the clipboard. WARNING: Large files can excede the space available on the clipboard and will be truncated. (Note: GenBank's clipboard feature cannot be accessed by CDSParser.)
